Soundaffects Music Therapy is a pediatric music therapy practice owned and operated by Krista Hewson, MTA.  As an Accredited Pediatric Music Therapist, Krista creates opportunities for children of all abilities to participate, express themselves and learn.  She specializes in composing songs and creating materials that address each child’s specific strengths, needs and level of development.  The program she has developed affects the child globally such that he/she becomes more receptive to learning in the following areas:

  • Speech-language goals including articulation, syntax, vocabulary, intonation, etc.
  • Focus and attention skills
  • Listening skills
  • Self-expression and self-esteem
  • Fine and gross motor skills
  • Social skills and appropriate behavior
  • Cognitive skills

As part of the therapist team, the tracking of these areas help provide information to create a comprehensive program plan for each child.
Soundaffects Music Therapy offers individual, small group (2-4), and large group (6-25) sessions in the following venues:

  • Private homes
  • School settings
  • Community centres
  • Daycares

Soundaffects Music Therapy supports other music therapists working toward their degree and accreditation by offering internships.  Interns specialize in various areas.
